Another music style I’ve always wanted to try: Digital Art Music.

This series is a collaboration between me and CHU CHUN


We actually started discussing this music picture book project at the end of last year, but even now, we still haven’t come up with a proper title 😆

We’re thinking maybe after we’ve created more pieces, inspiration for an official name will come naturally.


This particular scene was inspired by the famously hard-to-reach Lisong Hot Spring in Taitung.

She basically risked half her life to experience this wild hot spring in person 😂

At first glance, her illustration might seem dark and subdued, but if you look closely, the details are so intricate—even the ripples in the water are painted.


To match that, I kept the instrumentation minimal—leaving space for the nuances of each tone.

Even with the piano, I kept in the sound of pedals and mechanical noise to reflect the subtle, hand-drawn quality of her artwork.


For mixing, Jack @j_ack0831 added layers of reverb to blend the textures softly together.

I told him there’s no client for this one, so feel free to experiment—so he went extra bold with the reverb, especially on the drums, which now feel like they’re echoing in a big forest. I loved it 😍


As for the ambient sounds, I used field recordings I captured at Lake Shoji (精進湖) near Mt. Fuji 🗻.

That day, the wind was calm and the lake was peaceful—exactly like the mood of the artwork.

I’ll also be releasing the footage from that recording session as part of a separate ambient audio series. 一直想嘗試的音樂類型之二 Digital Art Music，這個系列是我跟 CHU CHUN 一起創作的，我們大概從去年底就開始討論這個音樂繪本了，但一直到現在都還沒想到主題名稱，等累積比較多作品後我們再來看看有沒有一點正式名稱的靈感～


場景的靈感是來自於出名難進出的台東栗松溫泉，她大概花了半條命才成功體驗這個野溪溫泉😆！這個系列的畫風乍看之下夜色昏暗，但仔細看都是細膩筆觸以及細節 (湖水是有漣漪的喔)，因此在音樂上，我也盡量使用較少的樂器，將空間留給單一音色的細節，鋼琴也將踏板和機械的Noise 聲調出來一點，就如同她畫的風格一樣。


混音上子傑也幫我用Reverb去帶音色，將各音色的細節柔和在一起，我跟他說這個系列沒有案主，盡量放手玩，所以他Reverb下手也比平常重，鼓則是給我滿滿的大森林，聽了好喜歡😍～


音效則是用我之前去富士山🗻精進湖所錄的聲音，剛好那天的湖面也是微風寧靜，跟圖中所呈現的氛圍正好貼合，之後這個音效當時所一起錄製的畫面，也會另外在環境音效音樂的系列中呈現。
